Planning forum of P.G. Department of Economics Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar recently hosted and an insightful guest lecture titled ‘Changing Scenario of Agriculture in Punjab. Dr M.S. Toor, a renowned economics from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana was the chief guest and speaker of this wonderful event which attracted a diverse audience of students and faculty members. Dr. Toor is a rare combination of success and humility having extraordinary achievements. He apprised the audience about the important of agriculture with diversified example. Starting from history of agriculture development to Swaminathan report, he touched every aspect of Punjab agriculture. According to Dr. Toor, cost of input has increased more proportionately than it's out prices. This is the main cause behind the farmers reluctance to adopt diversification of crops. Lyallpur Khalsa College launches QR codes in Campus - Medicinal Uses of Avenue Trees just a Click Away

Lyallpur Khlasa College provides lush green scenic view to its students. There is a variety of trees in the campus and to give proper information about these trees, QR codes have been fixed on name-plate of avenue trees in Campus.  Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh inaugurated the facility. He said that college endeavours its best to provide a conducive environment to its students to study. He informed that these QR codes can be scanned by Google lens to open pages of useful information about medicinal properties, usage and dosage of plants for treatment of various ailments. The facility can be used by anyone curious to know about medicinal utility of the plants. He congratulated Dr. Heminder Singh, Department of Zoology and Botany who envisaged, planned and executed this project. Dr. Heminder informed that QR codes have been prepared by Nandni, student of B.Voc. Software Development, Sem IV. Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti celebrated in Khalsa College

Over 70 students participated in different events like slogan writing and collage making competition held at Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar today. The event was organised by the History department of  the college to mark  the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The event was presided over by the College Principal Dr Jaspal Singh who while giving prizes to the winners said that  it was imperative that the country rememberd its great leaders and tried to inculcate the values taught by them. The head of the department Dr Suman Chopra congratulated the winners and said that the department was committed to inculcate historic sense among the students of the college through its activities.
