Cadet Samridhi Kaushal, a student of B.A. 3rd Semester at Lyallpur Khalsa College, has been selected to participate in the Thal Sena Camp (TSC) to be held in New Delhi from September 2 onwards. Her selection was made at the Pre-Thal Sena Camp–2 conducted at NCC Academy, Rupnagar. The Thal Sena Camp is regarded as one of the most prestigious camps of the National Cadet Corps, focusing on discipline, leadership, field craft, weapon training, map reading and other aspects of military training. Participation in this camp is considered a matter of distinction for NCC cadets.Principal Dr. Suman Chopra congratulated Cadet Samridhi on her achievement and said that her selection has brought pride to the institution. NSS Unit & Red Ribbon Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College in collaboration with Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, Social Sensitization Cell, NGO Dishadeep and Aristotle Society of Life Sciences organized ‘One Day Blood Donation Camp’ in the college campus. Principal Dr. Suman Chopra inaugurated the camp and stated that there are only 8 donors per thousand people in India which is very less. Due to road accidents, thalassemia and other medical conditions patients requiring blood have increased in the last decade. She added that blood donation is the supreme service to humanity and we must come forward to donate blood. We can save three lives with one unit of blood. Principal Dr. Suman Chopra in her message stated that there is a lack of knowledge of HIV/AIDS in India among adults which needs to be increased through the mass events by involving youth. She advised the students to maintain a healthy lifestyle and engage in physical activities. Later, she flagged off the rally.
