Lyallpur Khalsa College Pays Homage to the Martyrs of the Freedom Movement & Partition Victims on the Eve of Independence Day

Under the directions of Govt. of India, PG Dept. of English and NSS Unit of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar remembered the martyrs of freedom struggle & victims of partition on the Eve of Independence Day by organizing a speech contest. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh, remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters and victims of partition, said that these events, about our history, bring the untold stories of our ancestors. He appealed to the youth to contribute towards building a stronger, self-reliant, innovative, and future-ready India. The event was graced by Registrar, Dr.Harjit Singh who, while remembering the sacrifices made during the struggle of freedom and partition, advocated the ideals of patriotism and constitutional values. NSS Chief Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh informed that a total 25 speakers from different streams participated in the speech contest Horrors of Partition-1947. The speakers described the historical incidents during the freedom struggle and untold family experiences of partition victims. Judges, Dr. Ranju Mahajan & Harshveer Arora, declared Arshpreet Kaur, Simran and Vanshika Chouhan 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. NSS volunteers Vanshika and Jasmeet Kaur handled the stage. The event was witnessed by Dr. Balraj Kaur Head of PG Dept. of English, Prof. Manju Joshi, Prof. Navneet Kaur and a large number of students.

ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੇਠ, ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਪੀ.ਜੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਯੂਨਿਟ ਨੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਵ ਸੰਧਿਆ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਰਛਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਣਕਹੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ, ਸਵੈ-ਨਿਰਭਰ, ਨਵੀਨਤਾਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੀ ਆਰੰਭਤਾ ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ. ਹਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਗਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਦਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਕਾਲਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਲ 25 ਬੁਲਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਬੁਲਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਾਪਰੀਆਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਣਕਹੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਅਨੁਭਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਜੱਜਾਂ, ਡਾ. ਹੰਜੂ ਮਹਾਜਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਸ਼ਵੀਰ ਅਰੋੜਾ ਨੇ ਅਰਸ਼ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਚੌਹਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰਮਵਾਰ ਪਹਿਲਾ, ਦੂਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ। ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਵੰਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਸਮੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਸਟੇਜ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਪੀ.ਜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਬਲਰਾਜ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮੰਜੂ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਨਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
