Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrates Shaheed Bhagat Singh's birth anniversary

The birth anniversary of Sardar Bhagat Singh was celebrated with great devotion today by the Centre for Historical Studies under the Post Graduate Department of Histoory of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar in collaboration with NSS unit. In this event, a speech competition was organized on the life, ideology and contribution of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The event began with a floral tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. Suman Chopra, in her message, inspired the youth to follow the path shown by Sardar Bhagat Singh. Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, Dean Sports and Head Department of Commerce and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Registrar & Head of Botany & Zoology attended the event as the chief guests.   NSS unit of Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated NSS Foundation Day in the college campus by organizing an awareness seminar in collaboration with Humsafar Youth Club NGO and MY Bharat Kendra Jalandhar. Principal Dr. Suman Chopra congratulated the gathering on NSS foundation day and encouraged the volunteers to participate in social welfare activities and contribute to nation building. She lauded the continuous efforts of the NSS unit of the college by organizing awareness programs and rallies. The Department of Physiotherapy of Lyallpur Khalsa College, in collaboration with the Departments of Zoology–Botany and the India Vikas Parishad (Yuva Ikai), organized a workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS).The chief guest for the event was Dr. Mukesh Gupta (M.D. Radiodiagnosis, National Co-ordinator BLS). Principal Dr. Sumna Chopra  warmly welcomed him with a floral bouquet. In her address, she stated that the college regularly organizes such seminars so that students can benefit from them. Lyallpur Khalsa College, a premier institution in North India, celebrated World Ozone Day. Various programmes were organised to spread awareness about the depletion of the ozone layer and its environmental impacts. The event was organised by the Postgraduate Department of Geography and the Postgraduate Department of Chemistry, in which students from various colleges of the area actively participated. The event started with 117 registrations in the Department of Geography and 70 in the Department of Chemistry. The event was presided over by Principal Dr. Suman Chopra. An industrial visit to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, was organized by the PG Department of Computer Science & IT of  Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, where 20 students of  Journalism and Mass Communication attended a seminar on "AI In journalism".The seminar  was  organized by Pushpa Gujral Science City and featured a renowned expert Sh. Daljit Ami, Director Educational Multimedia Research Centre, Punjabi University Patiala. Around 25 students from the BAJMC 1st and 3rd semesters participated in the seminar, which provided valuable insights into the impact of AI on the Journalism industry. The Post Graduate Department of Political Science, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, organized an educational tour to the Haryana Legislative Assembly and the Punjab and Haryana High Court. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to attend a live session of the Legislative Assembly as well as witness the court proceedings in progress, which proved to be highly educative and informative. College Principal Dr. Suman  Chopra informed that a group of 21 students from the department were warmly welcomed by the Honourable Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, Sh. Teaching and non-teaching staff of the Lyallpur Khalsa College has been granted benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission as per UGC and Punjab Government regulations. This information was given by the College Principal Dr. Suman Chopra who along with the staff members paid obeisance to the Almighty in the college Gurdwara for this achievement. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the college was committed to the well-being of its staff members, and giving salary according to the seventh pay commission was in continuity to this policy. Students of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar have performed splendidly in Guru Nanak Dev University exams of Bacholer of Physiotherpy Part-I. In a press release today, the Principal of the College Dr. Suman Chopra informed that Shreya bagged 2nd positions by getting 787 out of 1100 whereas Lovely Sharma bagged 8th position by getting 759, Amandeep Kaur  bagged 14th position by getting 749 in the same class..
