Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar celebrates National Sports Day

Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2026 to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand. The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports. The Chief Guest of the occasion was S. Sandeep Singh Ghuman, international player of hockey, who is working as Manager in Punjab and Sind Bank, Jalandhar. He was warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, Prof. Dr. Simranjit Singh Bains (Dean Sports) and members of the Sports Committee. Principal Dr. Sandhu, in his address, highlighted the excellent contributions of Lyallpur Khalsa College in the field of sports, its rich legacy in international sports and the institution’s commitment to provide world-class facilities to budding sportspersons. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand. After paying tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, Coach Sarbjit Singh Happy, who was the guest of honour, was recognized for his immense contribution in the field of athletics. Then, a friendly hockey match between the teams of CRPF, Jalandhar and LKC was also played. Addressing the gathering, chief guest, Mr. Guman motivated the students to put sincere efforts to excel at national and international levels. He appreciated the facilities provided by the college and urged the youngsters to avail those facilities and participate in sports with honesty, commitment, and true sportsmanship.  He also appealed to the youth to stay away from the drug menace. In the concluding session, Dr. Bains (Dean Sports) recalled the incidents related to the life of Major Dhyan Chand and inspired the young sports persons to follow his footsteps. He also extended a vote of thanks to the gathering and everyone who was involved to make the event successful. The stage was conducted by Prof. Karanbir Singh. The event was graced by coaches, S. Bhupinder Singh (Basketball), S.Tajinder Singh (Football), S. Gurdiyal Singh (Volleyball), S.Davinderpal Singh (Hockey) along with faculty members Dr. Balraj Kaur, Dr. Dinkar Sharma, Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Dr. Manpreet Singh Lehal, Prof. Satpal Singh, Dr. Surbjit Singh, Prof. Rajith, Prof. Baldeena, S. Jagdish Singh and Sh. Amrit Lal Saini.

ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ 29 ਅਗਸਤ 2026 ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਨ ਹਾਕੀ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਮੇਜਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਖੇਡ ਦਿਵਸ ਮਨਾਇਆ। ਇਹ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਹਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਸ. ਸੰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਘੁੰਮਣ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਐਂਡ ਸਿੰਧ ਬੈਂਕ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਰਛਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਡਾ. ਸਿਮਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੈਂਸ (ਡੀਨ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ) ਅਤੇ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਘਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ, ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਦੀ ਅਮੀਰ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰਦੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ 'ਤੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਜਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮੇਜਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਂਜਲੀ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਕੋਚ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਹੈਪੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸਨ, ਨੂੰ ਅਥਲੈਟਿਕਸ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਲਈ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਫਿਰ, ਸੀ.ਆਰ.ਪੀ.ਐਫ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਅਤੇ ਐਲ.ਪੀ.ਸੀ. ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਦੋਸਤਾਨਾ ਹਾਕੀ ਮੈਚ ਵੀ ਖੇਡਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ, ਸ. ਘੁੰਮਣ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਉੱਤਮਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ, ਵਚਨਬੰਧਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਖੇਡ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਡਾ. ਬੈਂਸ (ਡੀਨ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ) ਨੇ ਮੰਜਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਕਸ਼ੇ ਕਦਮਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਫਲ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸਟੇਜ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਕਰਨਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਚ ਸ: ਭੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ (ਬਾਸਕਟਬਾਲ), ਸ: ਤਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ (ਫੁੱਟਬਾਲ), ਸ: ਗੁਰਦਿਆਲ ਸਿੰਘ (ਵਾਲੀਬਾਲ), ਸ.ਦਵਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ (ਹਾਕੀ) ਸਮੇਤ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਡਾ: ਬਲਰਾਜ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ: ਦਿਨਕਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ: ਅਜੀਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ: ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਲੇਹਲ, ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਸਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਰਜਤ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਬਲਦੀਨਾ, ਸ. ਜਗਦੀਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲਾਲ ਸੋਈ ਨੇ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।
