Release of Santokh Bhullar's book on Saroop Singh's painting at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar and Sahitya Kala Kendra organized a public presentation ceremony of the unique and very important book "Chitran Da Sahitya Sumail" written by versatile writer Santokh Bhullar. The book is about the cultural history of the portraits of Punjabi literary figures as portrayed by internationally renowned Punjabi painter Sardar Saroop Singh. The event was held at the college auditorium. In this book, one hundred and fifteen Punjabi writers related to Sufi, Gurmat, Qisa and modern literary trends along with portraits prepared by Saroop Singh of personalities belonging to five other cultures and informative written by Santokh Bhullar about the life and contribution of those personalities are included. National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme and Department of Physical Education and Sports of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in collaboration with 2 Punjab NCC Battalion celebrated 9thInternational Yoga Day at college campus. The programme began with Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur's address. Welcoming the participants, she stated that yoga is India's gift to the world and it is now a part of the Global Calendar. It was for the 24th time that Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar won the Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar trophy known by Teja Singh Samundri Sports Trophy (General Sports Trophy Man) and created an indelible history. In this college, sports trials were taken for the session 2023-24 for 36 solo/teams events. Around 700 students participated in these trials. On 13th June 2023,trials were taken for various sports like Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Badminton, Cricket, Swimming, Water Polo, Gymnastics and Archery. Further, on 14th June, 2023 trials were taken for other sports also like Hockey, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Pencak Silat, Wushu, Fencing, Judo, Taekwondo, Rowing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Dragon Boat.   Harsimran of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar has bagged 1st position in the University exams of Bachelor of Vocation (Printing Technology) Semester III by getting 338 marks out of 400, whereas Diksha and Karan Singh bagged 2nd and 3rd position by getting 324 and 312 marks respectively in the same class. A three-day sports trial was organised at the college to select the players for the new season 2023-24. Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur specially attended the inaugural function of these sports trials. On the occasion, she welcomed the sports students to join the college, wished them well and conveyed the message of giving trials with full sportsmanship spirit and dedication. She told the students that as true sportspersons if they dedicate themselves to sports and perform for the college, the college will provide them every possible facility.   Trials for sportsperson admissions in Lyallpur Khalsa College for the session 2023-24 will be  conducted  during 13 - 15 June in the playgrounds of the college. This information was given by the college  Principal Prof.  Jasreen Kaur. Giving details the College Dean Sports Dr SS Bains said that the trials  for Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Badminton, Cricket, Swimming, Water Polo, Gymnastics and Archery would be held on June 13 whereas on 14 June, trials would  be conducted for Hockey, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Pencak Silat, Wushu, Fencing, Judo, Taekwondo, Rowing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Dragon Boat. On 15 June, trials for events of Football, Karate, Cycling, Baseball, Kabaddi (NS), Tennis, Rugby, Volleyball, Shooting (Rifle & Pistol) and Handball trials would be held. NSS Units Lyallpur Khalsa College Celebrates World Environment Day

  NSS units of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar celebrated World Environment Day under Mission Life to spread awareness related to plantation, bird shelter and kitchen gardening. Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur initiated the plantation drive in college campus and advised everyone to plant at least one plant at home. She added that plants need care for the initial phase of three months and we get benefitted for a long time. Principal encouraged the efforts of NSS volunteers who made bird huts to be hung on trees. NSS Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh said that NSS volunteers Disha Vij, Karandeep and others have made these bird shelters manually from waste wooden boards. Later, the volunteers hung these birdhouses on trees in the campus and collected plastic waste. Volunteers also distributed seeds of flowers and plants to the staff members for their kitchen gardens.
