Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar Secures First Runners-Up Trophy in Guru Nanak Dev University Inter-College (Men’s) ‘A’ Division Championship

 

Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar has secured the First Runners-Up Trophy in the Guru Nanak Dev University Inter-College (Men’s) ‘A’ Division Championship. This remarkable achievement is the result of the students’ continuous excellence, discipline, and outstanding teamwork throughout the season. At the award ceremony held at Guru Nanak Dev University, the trophy was presented by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Palwinder Singh, Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. Harvinder Singh Saini, Director Sports Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Chairperson of the University Sports Committee (Women) Dr. Pushpinder Walia, and Chairperson of the University Sports Committee (Men) Dr. Tarsem Singh. On behalf of the college, the award was received by Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur, Dean Sports Prof. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, Head of the Department Prof. Simranjeet Singh, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Prof. Manveer Pal, and Sports Superintendent Jagdish Singh. Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President of the Governing Council, and Sr. Deepinder Singh Purewal, Vice President, congratulated the players, coaches, and the Department of Physical Education & Sports on this achievement. Registrar and Head of Department, Zoology, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur conveyed their appreciation to the athletes, coaches, and the Department of Physical Education and Sports for their commitment and performance. Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur stated that this result reflects the college’s rich culture of sportsmanship and perseverance, emphasizing the collective efforts of the faculty, coaches, and supporting staff. She added that the college will continue to build on these achievements with enhanced preparation for upcoming inter-college tournaments. On this occasion, the college’s international players were honored with scholarships in recognition of their remarkable sporting achievements. The awardees included Ardrian Karmakar (Shooting) 3,80,000, Pramod Kumar (Shooting) 2,50,000, Umesh Chaudhary (Shooting) 2,50,000, and Sufiyan Wahid Sohil (Fencing) 1,55,000. These awards highlight the institution’s continued commitment to encouraging excellence in sports. The Principal also appreciated the contribution of ground staff, event management teams, and administrative units whose efforts ensured smooth and successful participation throughout the season. On this occasion, Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, Dean Sports, and Prof. Simranjeet Singh, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, extended special thanks to the College Governing Council and the Principal for providing excellent sports facilities and a supportive sports environment. They further stated that the Department of Physical Education and Sports efficiently managed the practice schedules, ground preparation, logistics, and welfare of the players, thereby strengthening the institution’s holistic approach that integrates academic excellence with high-performance sports.
