17th Barsi of Late Sardar Balbir Singh Commemorated at Lyallpur Khalsa College

 The students, staff and President of the College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur, along with the members of the Management Committee today paid their obeisance at Sehaj Path held in the College Gurudwara today on the Barsi of Late Sardar Balbir Singh Ex-Member Parliament who remained the president of the College Governing Council for four decades. On this occasion, Kirtan as per Sikh traditions was recited by Bhai Bhupinder Singh, Rama Mandi wale. Recalling the unparalleled contribution of Late S. Balbir Singh to the College, and particularly to the Doaba region of Punjab, the Principal of the college Dr. Suman Chopra informed that S. Balbir Singh dedicated his entire life to the College and his ideals and vision still stood as a light house to the college. He was also remembered as the pioneer of Computer and Biotechnology education in the whole of north India. President Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur, Joint Secretary S. Jaspal Singh Waraich, S. Avtar Singh Kang, Member Governing Council, Principal Dr. Suman Chopra presented siropa to Ragi Jatha. The occasion was marked by the presence of Vice-President S. Deepinder Singh Purewal, Member Governing Council and Managing Committee S. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, S. Prabhpal Singh Pannu and principals, directors and staff members of KCL Group of Institutions.

ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਬੁਲੰਦੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਅਮਰ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਸ. ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀ 17ਵੀਂ ਬਰਸੀ ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਨਾਈ ਗਈ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਜ ਪਾਠ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਭਾਈ ਭੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ, ਰਾਮਾ ਮੰਡੀ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਗੀ ਜਥੇ ਨੇ ਵੈਰਾਗਮਈ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ। ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸਰਦਾਰਨੀ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਕੌਰ, ਸਯੁੰਕਤ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਸ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੜੈਚ, ਮੈਂਬਰ ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਸ. ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਸੁਮਨ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਭੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਗੀ ਜਥੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਓ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸ. ਦੀਪਇੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੁਰੇਵਾਲ, ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ, ਸ. ਜਗਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ੇਰਗਿੱਲ, ਮੈਂਬਰ ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਕੌਂਸਲ, ਸ, ਪ੍ਰਭਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਨੂੰ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਮੈਨੇਜਿੰਗ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸਰਦਾਰਨੀ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜੀ ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ. ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਅਰਪਣ ਕੀਤੇ। ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਸੁਮਨ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ। ਦੁਆਬੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਕੋਰਸ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਰੁਸਨਾਇਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੂਰਅੰਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਸੋਚ ਸਦਕਾ ਫਿਜੀਓਥਰੈਪੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਇਓਟੈਕਨਾਲਜੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਕੋਰਸ ਵੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆਂਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਦੁਆਬੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਰਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਵੱਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਿਹਤਰੀ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਇਆ। ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਪੱਖਪਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦਾ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਭੇਂਟ ਕਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਮੈਂਬਰ, ਮੈਨੇਜਿੰਗ ਕਮੇਟੀ, ਸਾਕ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ, ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਟੈਕਨੀਕਲ ਕੈਂਪਸ, ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲਜ਼, ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਲੰਗਰ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।
