Geography Quiz Competition organized at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar

 

P.G. Department of Geography, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in collaboration with the Association of Punjab Geographers organized the North Zone Level Geography Quiz Competition. Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh was present as Chief Guest, who honoured the winning teams with mementos and certificates. He encouraged the students to look beyond their textual knowledge and establish a relationship between theory and application of learned concepts. The objective of the Quiz was to evaluate the knowledge of the participants within academics and beyond academics as well as to promote scholastic excellence and competence through healthy and fair competition. Dr Pooja Rana, Head Department of Geography informed that ten colleges from different places participated in this competition and DAV College, Jalandhar took first, Doaba College second and SR Govt College for Women Amritsar third positions. At the end Dr. Pooja Rana thanked principal and faculty members as well as congratulated the winning teams and also encouraged the participating teams. She also said that Geography is an important subject and various types of competitive exams like IPS, IAS, PCS, etc put questions based on Geography. On this occasion, Prof. Onkar Singh, Prof. Mandeep Singh and Prof. Priya Kataria were also present.

ਲਾਇਲਪੁਰ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੁਏਟ ਭੂਗੋਲ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਆਫ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਿਓਗ੍ਰਾਫਰਜ਼ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਜ਼ੋਨ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਭੂਗੋਲ ਕੁਇਜ਼ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਲੇਬਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹਾਰਕ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕੁਇਜ਼ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਉੱਤਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਡਾ. ਪੂਜਾ ਰਾਣਾ, ਮੁਖੀ ਭੂਗੋਲ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ੧੦ ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਡੀ.ਏ.ਵੀ. ਕਾਲਜ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ, ਦੋਆਬਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਐਸ.ਆਰ. ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਫ਼ਾਰ ਵਿਮੈੱਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਨੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਪੂਜਾ ਰਾਣਾ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਂਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ- ਨਾਲ ਜੇਤੂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਅਫਜ਼ਾਈ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਓਂਕਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਪ੍ਰਿਆ ਕਟਾਰੀਆ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੇਤੂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
