The Punjabi Folk Dance Bhangra Camp will start at Lyallpur Khalsa College from 11th July 2024 (Registration will be held on 9th and 10th July at 5:00 PM at Open Air Theatre)

Lyallpur Khalsa College is known for carrying forward the heritage of Bhangra and taking it to international level. This Mecca of Bhangra is organizing Punjabi Folk Dance Bhangra Camp from 11th July to 20th July 2024. Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Principal Prof. A meeting was held regarding the planning and implementation of the camp under the leadership of Jasreen Kaur and Registrar Prof. Navdeep Kaur, in which it was said that Bhangra not only entertains but also keeps the body fit. This dance form is also internationally recognized. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh said that this camp is for all age groups and there is no registration fee. Dean Cultural Affairs Dr. Palwinder Singh Bolina said that this camp is organized every year in the college campus by the team of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar. An Orientation cum Welcome programme was organised for newly admitted students of BA Sem -I



 

The aim of the programme was to integrate the newly admitted first semester students of BA into the academic, cultural, and social climate of the college.The event started with a beautiful rendition of Saraswati Vandana by students of Deptt of Music. The students were then familiarised with different aspects of the college.They were given information about history and traditions of the college, various co-curricular Activities organised in the college every year, Mentor- mentee programme, NCC, NSS,  details of library facility, Value Added courses, grievance redressal cell, and many other programmes and activities designed for them, so that they could optimally utilize the next few years of their college life.The students were also given virtual tour of the college campus. This was done through displaying selfies taken by senior students of the college at important spots of the college. The cultural flavour was imparted through a folk song, mimcry, and western dance performed by senior students of the college in a bid to welcome their juniors. The Principal of the College, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, while formally welcoming the students said that the aim of college education is not just academic excellence but also personal growth and holistic development of an individual, and therefore, she urged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them at LKC.The Vote of thanks was delivered by Registrar of the College, Prof. Navdeep Kaur. The programme was moderated by Prof. Geetanjali Mahajan. Prof. Balraj Kaur, Prof. Surinder Pal Mand, Prof. Manmeet Sodhi, Prof. Harjinder Singh, Prof. Karanbir Singh, Prof. Satpal Singh were also present on the occasion and contributed to the event.
